Why build your Brand?

What is a BRAND?

According to Investopedia, A brand is an identifying symbol, mark, logo, name, word and/or sentence that companies use to distinguish their product from others. A combination of one or more of those elements can be utilized to create a brand identity. Legal protection given to a brand name is called a trademark.”

It could be your favorite soda, the pair of shoes you are wearing, the lipstick you have just swiped on you lip, the shirt you have just put on or the food you are about to put inside your mouth.  A brand is actually many many things. Now a person, or group of persons, like a basketball team is now a brand.  Putting a person, an entity or a facility or a product in that category which is a brand makes it easier for people like us who market them.  “Market”, to SELL them to the right audience who buys them and uses them.

So now, you have created your own brand, you now own a product that you want to promote, a restaurant or a simple coffee shop, a t-shirt printing business that started out as a hobby or you as a Social Media personality, a Youtuber or Vlogger.  You, even you can be a brand.

You ask why build it? Well, for businesses, it is the simple KRA and KPI and the ROI at the end, sales that is.  It is AWARENESS.  More people learning about what you are selling, or what you or your brand is all about.  Now on socials. it is the number of LIKES, SHARES, ENGAGEMENTS or FOLLOWERS.

Business and brands now with the emergence of technology has to blend with the changing times.  It’s actually just a change in the medium or how things are being presented but the marketing formulas are still quite the same.  We just have to tweak it a bit to make it more applicable and better received by the evolving times and the evolving market of patrons.
